Around and About Orange
County News (AAOC) is the college's
weekly news program that focuses specifically
on local Orange County issues. Established
in 1984, the show is now one of the longest
running news programs in the county and has
received awards of excellence from C.M.A.,
W.A.V.E., Hometown USA and others. In 1995, Noticiero
Latino del Condado de Orange (NLCO)
was established as the Spanish language counterpart
to AAOC. This groundbreaking program was the
first such show of its type in the nation and
has been recognized for its accomplishments
by industry professionals.
Each 30-minute weekly news broadcast is entirely produced by Santa Ana College TV-Video Communications students under the direction of Executive Producer, Terry Bales and the SAC-TV Technical Staff. Participation in both shows offers students an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field and behind the scenes, as they team up to produce the live-to-tape news programs. Some of those positions include field reporters, videographers, on-air talent, segment producers, directors, writers, editors and a host of technical crew positions.
